This Is Who We Are

DSP Films has been producing short films in the Pittsburgh area since 2004. Tomorrow, the first short released by DSP Films, was shown as part of Cup-A-Jo Productions' Life and Other One Man Shows. In January, 2009, our second short, Pretty Girl was shown in The Body Beautiful, also by Cup-A-Jo Productions. We have a pretty good relationship with Cup-A-Jo, if you haven't figured that out.

The man behind the curtain at DSP Films is Eric Sipple. He acts as producer, writer and director. He also does sound, editing and lighting. Sometimes, he cooks.

This doesn't mean it's a one man show. These films would not get made without some incredible work from S. Michael Marankovic, Joanna Lowe and David Lucci, all of whom have co-produced at least some of what you see here.

You can commission us to do work for your business. We've produced commercials for Ship On Site Boradman and filmed personal stories for Northbridge Christian Community. If you're looking for a professional, creative team to help your organization, you can contact us here.

This Is Where We Came From

As high school ended in 1997, Eric Sipple began work on Daemonsong, a science fiction television show for the web. That he had no camera, no actors and no crew didn't deter him. It was high school. Reality was optional. So was the "television" part in the show. The scripts for Daemonsong were posted online. To be read, you see. If it helps, this wasn't uncommon back in the late 90's. Less common than animated gifs of fire, perhaps, but still.

By 2000, Eric finally got himself a camera. And though there was no chance of filming Daemonsong - which was a blessing, honestly - it was the thing that got him started. Thus was born Daemonsong Productions. Like most new filmmakers, it took Eric a while to put together a project, finish it and end up with something worth showing to the world. Those early projects? We'll ignore those. It's for your own good. Things have gotten better since then.

If any of this sounds embarassing, it should. A lot of it was. It's something we're all very proud of.
